Bill Pushes for Tougher Sanctions for Negligent Employers

Paramedics3One South Australian politician wants reforms introduced to improve workplace safety in the state through corporate criminal responsibility.

If an employer’s negligence or indifference leads to the death of a worker, they could be fined up to $1 million or jailed for up to 20 years, under the industrial manslaughter bill reforms.

Greens MLC Tammy Franks says the main objective of the bill is to ensure that culpable employers are held responsible for any action or inaction that leads to the death of a worker.
